Tchaikovsky’s The Enchantress out on DVD

Asmik’s performance of Nastasya in Tchaikovsky’s The Enchantress at Oper Frankfurt last season has just been released on DVD last month by Naxos. This production, directed by Valentin Uryupin and conducted by Vasily Barkhatov in December 2022, was met with great acclaim. Ópera Actual praised Ms. Grigorian’s performance, stating: “The great claim of the Frankfurt Opera, beyond the curiosity of the work, was the presence of one of the most acclaimed sopranos of today, Asmik Grigorian, and the Lithuanian singer reaped a new triumph as Nastasia... If the aria of the first act was a delight of sincere expressiveness, as the plot progressed her voice was released in parallel with the growing emotional intensity of the character… Add in her impressive naturalness as a Grigorian actress and you will understand why she once again cast a spell over audiences.” She performed alongside Iain MacNeil as Prince Nikita, Claudia Mahnke as Princess Yevpraksiya, Alexander Mikhailov as Prince Yuri, Frederic Jost as Mamïrov / Kudma and Zanda Švēde as Nenila.
